1. What are the TSD Standards?

The Training, Support, and Development (TSD) Standards are a set of national benchmarks established by the Department for Education. They outline the essential skills, knowledge, and understanding that all foster carers in England should acquire within the first 12 months of approval (or 18 months for family and friends carers).

2. Who is required to complete the TSD Standards?

All approved foster carers in England are expected to complete the TSD Standards. This includes family and friends (kinship) carers, who have 18 months from their approval date to complete them. 

3. How long does it take to complete the TSD workbook?

While the time can vary, many foster carers find that, with the right support and resources, the workbook can be completed in less than 20 minutes. Our pre-filled templates and guidance are designed to streamline this process for you.

4. What support does TSD 4 Foster Carers offer?

Completed Workbook Templates: Pre-filled Microsoft Word documents sent directly to your email, ready for you to personalise.

5. How is the workbook delivered?

All our materials are delivered digitally via email in Microsoft Word format. Please note that a postal delivery option is not available.

6. Can both foster carers in the same household use the same workbook?

Yes, fostering households may jointly use the same evidence workbook. However, fostering services may wish to see evidence of engagement by both carers. 

7. What happens after I complete the TSD Standards?

Upon successful completion, you’ll receive a Certificate of Successful Completion. This certificate acknowledges your commitment to providing high-quality care and is a valuable addition to your professional development portfolio.
